As the book continues Nicole keeps thinking of the memories she had with her mother. I don't know what happened to her dad yet.Most of her memories are what she likes to call "fat years". Her and her mom went through really tough years. They struggles with money. Until her mom found a job at a local gym and got a free membership. That's when both of their lives changed.
Now they watch what they eat and do.
Its great how they switched their lives around! Nicole must feel happy she accomplished such a big goal.

This book has been ok. Its about a 15year old girl who is leaving her mother for the summer. Nicole doesnt want to go to her aunts house in North carolina. She feels so diffrent than anybody else already. Why go there and make herself feel more diffrent. Nicole was once really fat. But her mother who is a fitness export helped her. Her mother has to go to a European Flykiki Fitness Tour. So she sends Nicole to North Carolina with her aunt.
I would feel horrible if my mom sent me away the whole entire summer. Even though we fight sometimes I would stand being away from her that long.
I think Nicole is gonna suffer and her mom is going to fly her to Europe with her.

Sam is trying to solve her problems. Her mother has a better way to solve things. One word ..Yoga..
Sams mother is obsessed with yoga. She thinks its the solution for everything.
In a way I understand her mother. Since her father is such an acoholic she found a way to forget her missuries. She teaches her son to . Who is 4 and doesnt really understand why his dad drinks so much.
They cant really explain to him much of anything. He is a typical four year old who is very curious and wild.
It must be harsh to tell a little boy that his dad is an alholic.

This book is sad. Its about a girl named Sam who is facing alot of problems in her house. Most of her problems are caused by her fathers drinking. He is an alcoholic.
It must be sad to have a family member with that problem. It must be hell living with them! I would be scared! What if one day he gets drunk and even hits her.
Sam needs some advice about her life. She doesn't have good friends that she could tell. So she sees a girl in the library and decides to write her a note. Even though she doesn't know the girl, somehow Sam thinks the girl will help her and give her some advice.
I would never go up to a stranger and hand them a note about my life and then just walk off. Even though Sam hasn't gave her the note yet she is planning to do just that.

Emilys excited to be away from her parents those two weeks. She talks alot about her boyfriend and how she isnt the jelous type of girlfriend at all. She thinks of what her boyfriend would do if she was the jelous type.
He would probably freak.
I know for a fact that i dont like guys who are jelous!!!
Its like they dont trust u enough and are always asking you questions. They get on my nerves.

The book is ok so far. It stars off when two freinds talk about a trip to Paris and how she is trying to learn french. She has a class where she is getting a baby to take care of. She is very nervous because even though the baby is fake, she doesnt know to much about babies and is scared she wont know what to do.
She asks her friend for advise. She aslo explains how much fun she is having on her trip.
I think it must be cool to travel. I have only been on the north america continet. Not anywhere out of it. I think it would be awesome to learn about other cultures and vistit them.
I would hate having to take care of a fake baby. I have like 10 little cousins and they are crazy and dont listen most of the time.

escaping the giant wave 3-31-08 12-31

Well it turns out that kyles father is taking the family on a business vacation. The whole family is very happy to go. So everyone packed and where ready for the coast of oregon.
At the airport kyle fells a punch in the neck. It turns out that Daren, his nightmear, is also going on the trip. The're dads worktogether. As if it couldnt get any worse both families are staying at the same hotel.
Kyle gets sad and knows something is bound to go wrong. But he looks at things on a bright side and thinks maybe just maybe he could fight back when Daren tries to hit him again.
Kyle and his family where going to stay at a 5star hotel. But when they arrived the hotel was underconstruction and they where told to go to the hotel next door. Which sucks. Its old and smelly and not very clean.
I think that must suck! If your all happy about going somewhere and when you get there it sucks.

article on savador dali 3-28-08

I read about Salvador Dali and his many talents in painting, writing, and drawing. He had many interesting pieces of artwork. A lot of his artwork is at the Salvador Dali museum in St. Petersburg. There the show films too.. "Dali and Film"
His paintings where based a lot on what was happening in his time era.
When Dali was a child growing up he wathched movies on a hand cranked projector. He studyed the tricks and wanted to make images come alive. So with the help of his good friend Luis Bunel the both createdthe films Andalusian Dog and the gonlden Ages.
After reading and observing Dali's awesome artwork and reading about his movies im very curious to go to his museum. Dali was a very intersesting man and did fenominal artwork.

::Escaping the Giant Wave:: by Peg Kehret 3-25-08 Pages 1-12

This book cought my eye because there is a beutiful blue wave on the front of the cover and these awesome blue eyes. The book so far is good.
The book starts off at in Kyles sixth grade class. A couple of days befor summer vacation. The class is having a disscusion on what they would change about themselves. A lot of students speak out and have a lot of things they would change. Kyle want to get more money in his allowense. He figures that all he has to do is be more helpful to his parents.
He also explains his feelings over a bully. Daren Hazelton. He met him the first day of kindergarden and he has been a bully to kyle ever since the first day!!
It must suck to have to always see someone you dont like. I guess Kyle learned how to deal with it.

article on Victor Jara 3-20-08

I read about Victor Jara. He was a Chilean theatre director, poet, singer-songwriter, and political activist. He wrote wonderful songs about what was happening in Chile at the time.
I actually herd 4 of his songs in Spanish class. He had very strong lyrics.
Victor Jara was born September 28, 1932 and died September 15, 1973.
On the morning of September 12, Jara was taken, along with thousands others, as a prisoner to the Chile Stadium. In the hours and days that followed, many of those where forced to stay in the the stadium were tortured and killed there by the military forces.
He was was repeatedly beaten and tortured. Many of his bones were broken.And on September 15 and his body dumped on a road on the outskirts of Santiago, and then taken to a city morgue.
All this happened because his political view. He didnt like the government. In Chile at the time people couldn't even say bad things about the government because they would get hurt or in this case killed.
I think its very messed up how they killed this talented artist.
I guess we really don't value the things we have in the U.s. we could say what we want about who we want and nobody will kill us.

21 Days to save her life. By Lauren Brown 3-7-08

The article was about a girl named Jane. She had an eating disorders. I learned that eating disorders have the highest morality rate of any mental illness. Jane went into a help center, Renfrew Center. There she got treated and helped. She kept a journal through her stay. In the entries, she described her feelings. During the first days she found it terribly hard to eat. She couldn't event keep anything in her stomach. Near the end of the 21days she began to gain wight. She eventually got over her illness.
Its was sad reading about this girl. It must be horrible to be or to know someone that has an eating disorders! I love food!!
A fact is that most health care providers only 21days of treatment. That means if you don't have the money to pay for more treatments you suffer and even die.

Revolutionary images

This article out of an Art magazine talked about tree Mexican muralists. After the Mexican revolution, that took place in the 20th century, many artist were inspired to paint paintings that where related to the revolution. The paintings where awesome. They are full of color and seem to have a story behind each one of them! In Diego Rivera's paintings he used, figures with mask like faces, a lot of shadows, soft lighting, and curved organic outlines.
Jose Clemente painted amazing portraits. He used low point view, dark silhouetted shape background, and foreground with casting shadows.
David Siqueiros also painted beautifully. He painted close ups.
These muralists seemed very inspired. I loved their artwork.

My abnormal life By Lee McClain pages 33-42 2-29-08

The book is very detailed in Rose's life. She now understands that if she wants her family back, she's going to have to comply with many rules. She has to try her best to live a normal teenage life. And that means going to school. Rose has never gone to school so she is very nervous.
By lunch time, her first day of school was already going bad. All the other girls looked down on her. She was different . Unlike the other girls she was dressed out of style. She got paired up to a girl named Kimber. She became friends with her since they had something in common. Kimber had just started to go to school to. She had been home schooled for many years.
I cant imagine not going to school and all of the sudden start going. It would be really frightening and unbecoming. Especially if I got looked down upon the other people my age.

My abnormal life By Lee McClain pages 20-33 2-20-08

Well Rose got settled into her new house, faster home. Her new parents are nice and seem to miss their daughter since she went off to college. Rose was devastated because she couldn’t see her little sister anymore. But something cheered her up. As Fred, her counselor, was leaving her let her in on a little secret. He went over to the computer and showed Rose a computer game. This game was special. For it was a camera that was placed outside her sisters faster house. Rose could see everything that is going on in that house. Now she could see how the family treated her little sister. I think its cool to see how someone you love gets treated. specially if its an unfamiliar home.

My abnormal life By Lee McClain pages 1-20 2-20-08

This book is very dramatic. It starts off with a girl named Rose. She has a sister whom has down syndrome. She has token care of her ever since she was born. She loves her sister as if she was her sisters mom. Well now they are going to be split up and going to different foster families. Rose and Dani would be split up. Rose was destroyed. Why would she have to go through this? All she wanted was her family back to the way it use to be. So she had and idea. Her and Dani would escape in the back of a furniture truck parked outside the neighbors house. But they got caught and now she can only talk to her sister over the telephone. I cant imagine living with someone that im so attached to . It must be terrible hard!

Freaky Friday By Mary Rodgers: 2-14-08 pages 1-72

Annabil Andrews was an ordinary girl. But one day she woke up as her mother! There she was. In her mothers bed, wiht her mothers body, face and next to her father, who was sleeping. She was astonished! She and her mother had argued about a lot of things that week. Her mother was very stricked and woulnt let her do many things that the girls her age were doing! For example go to partys or walk in the woods on her way home from school. She felt it was very unfair!
It must be crazy to wake up one day and be someone elses. Especialy your mother. I would think that I would be dreming!!!!!!!!!

Marisol ended up having an awesome party. And Magda and her became best friends again. Magda realized what she was doing was wrong and was messing her life up. Marisol had a great time at the party. Things where way better than she expected. She enjoyed the party. Im glad things came out nice for Marisol. She was a nice girl and she deserved it. Im glad she was still there for Magda event though Magda had treated her so bad. Marisol is a great friend! Not all your friends will always be there. Some will even give up on you when you get into fights with them!

Mirasol is more and more excited about her party. But she is also very excited about Francisco, her soon to be boyfriend. He invited her on a very special date. But the problem is that when she asked her mother, her mother said she could go with him under one condition. She had to talk personal with Francisco mom. Mirasol was so embarrassed how would she tell Francisco that? He was a junior and she was a freshmen. Would he laugh at her? well the next day she told him. He laughed but agreed. He called Marisols house that night and had his mother talk to her mom. They ended up going on the date. I can relate to her because mostly all the time when I go out my parents have to know who im with. Sometimes I feel like they treat me like im 5 but I understand they get worried and need to know these kind of things.

Marisol has a lot going on in her life. She enter counters with her ex best friend and her boyfriend. Magda acts like she hates Marisol. Marisol thinks about giving up on their friendship. It wasn’t Marisols fault that Magda traded her for new friends that where thieves. But on the other hand Mrs. Trader , the lady who bought her Quincanera dress , agreed to sing at her quince. Marisol and her sat there eating pie and listening to all of Mrs. Taders records to see what she would sing at the party. Marisol really liked a song called "bless that child" it made her think of how hard her mother worked to make her quinceanera dream a reality. Sometimes when I get somthing expensive from my family or a friend , I think of what they had to do to get it. It makes me feel special but at the same time bad.

As days go by Marisol finds out who her real friends are. Magda dissed her completely! She traded her for some bad friends who cheat and steel. Marisol found a new friend who she likes very much. His names Francisco. He is in one of her classes. He started talking to her and she suspects he likes her. They even decide to go to a Museum on Saturday afternoon. Marisol said Francisco fell from heaven. Because when she needed someone the most he came. They sit a lunch laughing and talking about each others life. I think its awesome that she found him. Now Magda can see she isn't the only one that can make new friends. Marisol is so happy because now she found someone to share her excitement ,at school with, about her upcoming quincanera party! I know how Marisol feels because when my best friend moved in 8th grade I felt like I lost something very important but soon found a new group of friends even though I missed her.

As the night goes on Marisol feels more and more thankful for all of friends and family that is helping out with her quincanera.Her Tia China brought Marisol a familiar looking garment bag. Inside Marisol recognized Mrs.Traders small loopy handwriting. The card said "shine baby shine." When Marisol started to unzip the bag she seen the cranberry red satin dress. The dress of her dreams. She couldnt believe it! She wanted someone to pinch her. I think in this story Marisol is getting so much because she is a good girl. Unlike her friends who steel and others who make fun of others for their economic status. I would be so excited if someone gave me such a fantastic gift.

The story is getting more exciting! It makes me remember my quinceanera party . Is so interesting how so many people are putting their money in for Marisols quince party. She even starts getting along with her moms boyfrind. Its amazing how exciting events can change your outlook on life. At least for a cuple seconds or hours. For examle when your with someone you love it seems like you have comlete control and your unstopable. Like you have the whole world in you very own hands. In this case Marisol is happy about her party and knows she will be the queen for that special day!

Marisol told her aunt china about Magda. She suggested Marisol not to ever go shopping with her again. Then they headed to Marisol's aunt Alicia's house where they had been invited. To Marisol's surprise, she arrived their and a lot of people where in her aunts basement dressed real nice and shocked Marisol when they promised to pay for all her Quincanera stuff. Each one of her mothers friends and family were splitting up to pay for her party. She didn't even know some of these people. She felt blessed. Marisol asked herself if she was dreaming. I think its very nice for her family and friends to help out . Marisol dreamed about having a quincanera party and now her dream is becoming a reality. My quincanera was awesome and I cant Wait to read about how hers will be.

Still at the jewelry shop Magda goes on and on how she has money to buy all the diamonds she wants. After an hour of trying on all the diamonds you can think of she walks out of the store telling the sales lady she couldn't decide on which earrings she wanted. After leaving Mada went on about how bad she treated the lady. On the way back home she held something in her hands. She opened her hand. There laid a pair of diamond earrings. Marisol could belive her eyes. Magda's new friends taught her how to steel! I think that's really messed up! As much as you want so meting you should never steel!

Magda and Marisol went to pick up Magda's dress for her quinceanera. Marisol is still sad because she cant have one. As Magda passed through the mall with her dress she pauses and insist the go look at jewelry that will match her dress. As they enter a store an old lady tells them to keep walking because the earrings at that part of the store were to expensive for them. Magda got mad and told the lady if she could afford that dress she could afford those earrings too. I would have been really mad if a lady in a store said that to me that's very rude!! Marisol's mom told her they had enough money to go to Washington DC for her quince since they didn't have enough money for a huge celebration. Marisol is confused now. Should she have a little party or the trip of her dreams???

Marisol and her mother went to lilys quince. Its was beutiful. Lily looked amazing and her party was decorated wonderful. As soon as Lily arrived at the reception hall everyone started clapping and yelling wonderful things to her. Marisol started crying. She felt horrible. Her mother began crying with her and told her she knew how much she wanted her quince but sometimes things cant be done. Her mother cried as well. After when they got home Marisol felt bad and said she dreamed of an impossible thing. Things continued as usual. Its sad to want something so bad and not be able toget it. Its odd how Marisol doesnt blame her father for walking out on her and her mother.

This book has gotten better! Marisol and magdalena are friends again! Marisol is still sad and stressed with having a quinceanera. Especilly since she dont have the money. And her mother met a man and is dateing him. Marisol gets somewhat jelous and doesnt quite see why her mother likes him, why her mother is so happy with him. Marisol has a talk with her aunt and she helps her understand that her mother has been single for 14 years and she needs someone. This has happend to me in a way . When my dad doesnt let me do certain thing usually someone tries to help me understand his point of view and his resons. Most of the time I understand afterwards. Marisol's desire grows bigger when she goes to one of her friends,Lilys quince. I understand how she felt because if you want something and you see someone wiht it you want it more sometimes.
